Ya’ll may have heard this one before because it’s kinda old, but it’s still good. I have heard it several times, and each time I get goosebumps. It’s such an inspiring story.
In the Summer of 2017 off the Panama City Beach in Florida strangers came together to form a human chain that saved a family’s life.
Two boys were screaming for help 100 yards into the ocean because they were caught in a riptide. A couple tried to go in and save the boys, but they also got caught in the riptide. Then several other family members of the 2 boys tried to come to the rescue and they got caught as well.
There was no life guard on duty and the cops that were there sent for a rescue boat. But who knows how far away the boat was or how long it would take to get there. The people caught had been treading water for awhile and struggling to keep their heads above water.
Then one of the onlookers came up with the idea to form a human chain. They began gathering people on the beach, strangers from all walks of life, to start form this chain. They formed an 80 PERSON CHAIN. This young lady who suggested the idea, and her husband, grabbed boogie boards and swam down the chain collecting the struggling swimmers and bringing them back to shore.
After everyone was brought back to safety the crowd cheered. Everyone survived!
What a story! People working together and caring for other people. It’s moving. I think everyone left the beach a better person that day. I just love this story.
